USBtoMBus-5K
USB to M-Bus communication converter
Application
In terms of compactness and ease of connection to a PC this converter is an ideal tool for configuring M-Bus meters at their place of installation and for their on-site inspection.
It can also be used for permanent data readout from M-Bus devices via the USB interface in industry or building automation applications. The most commonly used M-Bus slave devices in these applications are heat, water and electricity consumption meters.
Description
The USBtoMBus-5K converter enables connection of an M-Bus line with readout devices through the USB interface. The communication works the same way as with a RS232 converter. Message transmission is done without any changes to message content. The communication speed is set in the USB serial port drivers. The maximum number of M-Bus slave devices that can be connected is 5.
Main characteristics
M-Bus port
- Connection of 1 to 5 M-Bus slave devices.
- Surge protection guaranteeing superior protection against overvoltage.
- Current protection against overload and short circuit on the communication line
with LED status indication.
USB
- Galvanic separation from the M-Bus line.
Mechanical construction
- The converter is in a plastic box that is 3D printed using SLS technology from a Nylon 12 powder.
Packaging
- The converter is packaged in a stylish higher quality box with dimensions (w x h x d) 11.2cm x 8.6cm x 2.7cm.
- The package also includes a short 15cm USB extension cable.

Guarantee of quality
- Each converter passes through several functional electrical tests during the production.
Additionally a communication test is performed after final assembly. - Solid design and construction based on many years practical experience.
